BUSINESS ASSISTANCE IN ACTION

Storefront Improvement
Plants, Etc has been serving the neighborhood from 2313 Fairmount Avenue since 1982 and was looking for a storefront refresh. In 2024, Park to Broad worked with the owner Dana Kalins to apply for the Commerce Department’s Storefront Improvement Program to help fund their new window, door and sign!
Park to Broad worked with the Commerce Department’s Business Services Manager to connect Baby’s Kusina to the In-Store Forgivable Loan program. This program provided funding for Baby’s Kusina owners Raquel and Tam Dang to purchase crucial kitchen equipment, including ovens, fridges, and a range, before opening at 2816 W Girard Avenue in February, 2025.

Shaw’s Beauties opened in 2024 at 2708 W Girard Avenue and joined the Park to Broad Business Network to increase their visibility in the neighborhood as a new retail destination. The Park to Broad team interviewed the owner Yolanda Novoa and published a feature to help tell her personal and business journey.
Park to Broad worked with Asanti Hair Studio owner Sheasma Page in fall 2024 to identify growth opportunities for her business and apply for The Merchants Fund Stabilization Grant. Asanti received the maximum grant amount, allowing the business to upgrade its point of sale system and invest in new marketing strategies.
