Why Do You Love Working in the Park to Broad District?

When I first came to Philadelphia I worked full-time while attending Temple University. This gave me a different perspective than most college students, as my experiences were not all specific to campus-living. I lived on 19th and Mount Vernon so Fairmount was my first introduction to the city during a time when I was discovering who I wanted to be. These early memories in Fairmount, specifically, shaped who I eventually became. When I decided to open up my studio and purchase a home a few blocks away from where it all started, it felt like a full-circle moment!

What was your inspiration for opening the business?

My name is Robb Lim and I am currently living and working in Brewerytown. After graduating from Temple in 2017 I had the opportunity to lead a small team of 3 as Marketing Director for a DC agency expanding to Philadelphia right out of college. During that process I learned the mechanics of running an agency and the true needs of clients. Prior to that I had a clothing company while at Temple University which gave me the creative confidence for future projects.

I eventually split with the company and took the leap of faith in 2021 to start my own business: RL Studios. Reading Terminal Market was my first client and continues to be a huge resource in understanding the local needs and wants of Philly. Aligning with businesses I truly believe in and support has led me to creating a true family I am grateful for.
