Local Ways to Honor Martin Luther King Jr.
There are several opportunities to celebrate Monday’s Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service locally:
Athletic Rec Center on 26th Street is hosting a volunteer clean-up day at 10:30am
Eastern State will have music and stories from 12-2pm sharing “about Dr. King’s contributions to the ongoing battle for civil rights and others who carry on his ideals.”
Founder’s Hall Museum at Girard College is hosting a 3pm discussion with the Freedom Fighters who led the school’s desegregation.
Fairmount Park Conservancy is organizing a volunteer project at The Discovery Center from 9am-Noon.
Join Block by Block Philly and Climate Action PA for a community cleanup from 10am-12pm.
No Second Trash Collection
Due to the holiday next week there will NOT be a second trash collection, only the first, regular day - for both trash and recycling.
