Of course summer is a great time to live in or visit Fairmount, Brewerytown, Francisville and Spring Garden… but even I was surprised with how many community events are coming up! While we’re preparing for our first Sidewalk Social of the summer on Wednesday, June 25 read below for everything else happening in the neighborhood!
Community Events
Eastern State’s Wednesday Night event series continues with a different theme every week in June. They’re also hosting a day of reflection, learning, and community connection for Juneteenth, June 19 from 10:45 to 2:30pm.
Fairmount Civic Association’s Flowering Fronts of Fairmount is back for 2025 - this is a free friendly competition that encourages neighbors to beautify their homes and sidewalks for the summer. Entry is open until June 30th at this link.
Councilmember Jeffery Young is hosting a Housing Resources Workshops on June 3 and June 9
On this Thursday, June 5 check-out Quizzo for a Cause benefiting Give and Go Athletics, hosted by 2637 Brew
This Friday, June 7 join Fairmount Park Conservancy for a free, family-friendly movie night at The Yard on Coltrane Street with Strawberry Mansion CDC; the following day, June 7 is Strawberry Fest at Historic Strawberry Mansion!
Kitten Saturday, hosted by Le Cat Cafe is this weekend, June 7
On the same day, around the corner, Tinker & Trade is hosting an author signing event and pop-up scrapbook sweatshirt bar with Ky Redefined Designs.
Every Sunday at 2pm Brewerytown Garden is hosting a different weekly workshop
Next Monday, June 9 celebrate Fairmount Bikes (and three other city shops) celebrating their anniversaries with a special ride across the city.
June 9 also kicks off the Parkway Council’s weekly “Mondays with Maja” jazz concerts at 22nd Street and the Parkway from 6:30-8pm all through June.
On Tuesday, June 10 there’s a community open house at Lemon Hill Mansion regarding upgrades to rehabilitate the park playground.
Wawa Welcome America and Smith Memorial Playground are presenting the Kidchella Music Festival, Free for kids of all ages - reserve tickets and learn more at this link.
Philly History Pop Ups has a free event on Wednesday, June 25 at Corinthian Gardens - RSVP to learn about the father of the Underground Railroad, William Still.
