What a start to September! Tonight there’s a Bache Martin Pizza Fundraiser; the Ukrainian League on 23rd Street is hosting Jazz Night on Wednesday and the Eagles’ kickoff Thursday; Sunday is Free First Sunday Family Day at the Barnes while Summer on the PMA Steps continues every weekend through September 28.
This Saturday, September 6 is the big one though:
Start your day at the Fairmount Flea Market surrounding Eastern State Penitentiary.
The first annual Fairmount Civic Stoop Sale is running from 8am-2pm across the neighborhood.
Neighborhood Potters is celebrating 25 years at 2034 Fairmount Avenue from Noon to 4pm with live music, pottery demonstrations, and swag. Stop by to get your free tote!
Enjoy the second annual Spring Garden Sunflower Festival with music, food, live music and local businesses on Fairmount Ave between 17th and 19th from Noon to 8pm.
While at the festival, visit the Aiyah Art Market in their back garden from 11am-5pm at 1809 Fairmount.
Finish the day with Sunset Salsa & Bachata at The Oval from 6pm to 9pm.

Taste of Fairmount Ticket Sales Start this Thursday

Thursday this week we’ll start sales on early-bird discount tickets for Taste of Fairmount - our annual night out, restaurant showcase and fundraiser - returning to Girard College’s Founder’s Hall once more on November 20. Proceeds from this year’s event benefit our new Small Business Fund! You can read more at this link about plans to distribute grants from this fund to help our community businesses overcome challenges and grow.
Neighborhood Events
On Saturday, September 13 don’t miss the Brewerytown’s Better Together Back to School Block Party from Noon to 5pm at 27th and Thompson.
September 12 and 13 join Dr. Karpinski from Brewerytown Chiropractic as he runs around Eastern State for 24 hours straight to raise funds and awareness for Bigger Than The Trail, a nonprofit supporting mental health awareness and access to resources. You can contribute at this link, or email to join him for a portion of the run - all paces welcome - starting and ending at 8:25pm.
If you’re into something shorter, the Boxers' Trail 5K supporting youth programming at Mander Playground in Strawberry Mansion is Saturday morning, September 13.
